Agung Mountain, Spectacular View From The Highest Point In Bali

You get more than beautiful beach in Bali. Taking a short drive to Karangasem Regency at East Bali will lead you to the highest mountain in Bali, Mount Agung. It gives you big challenge to climb up to this mountain. Yet, you will witness one of the most beautiful view in Bali. If you are tired to explore the coastal side of Bali, you can make it as an alternative for your holiday in the island. Indeed, Bali has loads of beautiful beaches with warm sun, blue ocean water and soft sand where you can relax and enjoy your holiday. However, you may want some adventure. Instead of wasting your time at the beach with thousands of other tourists, why don’t you try hiking and trekking up to the highest mountain in Bali.

Even if you don’t have much of experience on hiking or trekking, Agung mountain is relatively safe for amateurs. It’s also quite easy to find local mountain guide that can accompany you during your adventure. The highest mountain in Bali is towering at 3,031 metres above sea level. Along the way up to the mountain peak, you will feel different atmosphere on the mountain. Indeed, Mount Agung is considered as a sacred place for Balinese people. It’s a spiritual ground where many Balinese people send their prayers to. Asking around to local guide, you will be offered two climbing routes to reach the mountain peak. One of the trekking route starts from Besakih Temple, while the other one starts from Pasar Agung Temple. Trekking route that starts from Besakih Temple is a popular choice. It takes 5 to 7 hours to reach the peak, but this route will take you to the highest point of the mountain. The trekking begins at night as catching sunrise becomes the main attraction in Mount Agung. So, tourist must start trekking around 11 pm to arrive before 6 am at the peak.

If you take the route that starts from Pasar Agung Temple, it will only take 3 to 4 hours to arrive at the peak, but this route only ends at 100 meters below the highest peak. The trekking usually starts at 2 am in order to catch the sunrise from above. Indeed the sunrise view from the peak is spectacular. You can enjoy morning view to the island. You can also see the neighbouring islands, such as Lombok and Nusa Penida.
