Capturing the Best Moments in Ngaben Ceremony in Bali

One of interesting and will attract your attention when visiting Bali is Ngaben. Actually, it is your lucky time if you can see Ngaben because it is not a kind of annual cultural ceremony. This is considered as a cultural ceremony for a death person in Bali. It is a kind of cremation along with specific ceremony to support the spirit of the death people.

The Philosophy of Ngaben in Bali

Ngaben is not only an ordinary cremation but it is supported by specific holy ritual and ceremony. For example, people especially the family of the death person need to prepare sesajen or offering. It consists of several products such as foods, fruits and vegetables. It is a kind of party for the death person and even it is an expensive party for death person. This is because it needs energy from other people, money to buy the property and time to finish all of the ritual. You can also see a cleaning ritual in which the death person is cleaned by washing it carefully. All the processes of the ritual are controlled by a preacher. Don’t get shock if the death body is prepared well and even they are using Balinese traditional clothes. This is because they believe that the death body is going back to the paradise or a beautiful place. On the other hand, the spirit will be reincarnate into a new life. There is a specific place which commonly used as the cremation.

The Unique Parts of Ngaben in Bali

The unique part is that they have to turn around the coffin just like the number of the road. For example, if they pass a three junction it means the people have to turn around the coffin 3 times. Then, the representation of people will pray and give specific spell to the death body. The main attraction is when the body finally burn out in the cremation ceremony. You will not see sad face from the people or the family and even they are happy because the spirit of the death body is going back to the God. In short, it will be your lucky day if you can see Ngaben when you are visiting Bali. Just don’t forget to take picture because there will be several best moments from this traditional ceremony. This is also the reason why you have to spend a few days or even weeks in Bali. Then, you just have to pray that one day you can see Ngaben ceremony so you can share your experience while enjoying it.
