Everybody knows that Bali is one of the most beautiful places in
the world. Nobody can deny the beauty of its nature. The beaches are amazing;
spread from one edge to the other end. We still can see the traditional,
religious lives of its local people. The exoticness of Bali is not only found
in its beautiful beaches. You can also taste the exoticness of the beautiful
island with the Balinese food. Some people say that if you don’t taste the
local foods in Bali that means you don’t go to Bali at all. There are a variety
of local foods that vary from one to another. Indonesian food is known with its
spicy taste; and you can find it in Balinese food as well. We’re going
to give you several popular Bali dishes that may satisfy your desire as
culinary hunter.
Ayam Betutu (Betutu Chicken)
Ayam Betutu is probably the most popular traditional food of
Bali. Many tourists who come to Bali always ask for this dish every time they
pass by a local restaurant. Almost all restaurants in Bali have this cuisine on
their menus, and you can get them in a reasonable price but trust me, you will
find full satisfaction while tasting the food. Generally, this dish consists of
chicken stuffed with traditional spices that wrapped in banana leaves before
it’s baked in coal fire for 6 to 7 hours. When you order it in a restaurant,
you usually will get the whole package of it that consists of rice, the Ayam
Betutu, chili sauce, and vegetables. The food is rich in taste and juicy; and
the chili taste will add the exoticness of this food and increase the special
taste with its hot flavor.
Lawar
You can find Lawar everywhere in Bali. It is sold by almost
restaurants, food vendors, hotel restaurants, and every home at Bali. Lawar is
basically chopped meat, mixed with various vegetables that is cooked with local
spices and coconut. The food can be made from various ingredients like chicken,
beef, pork, beans, jackfruit, and many more. Lawar is best to eat with steamed
white rice.
Cerorot
Cerorot is Balinese traditional sweet cake that is made of rice flour, brown sugar and salt, and covered with coconut leaves before it’s steamed. Cecerot is considered to be one of the most favorite traditional cakes in Bali. The cake is usually eaten as a companion while you’re enjoying your morning tea or coffee. The cake only lasts for a day, thus it is usually found in the morning.
Yes I totally agree. The Bali has fresh and delicious food ever. I love to explore its all restaurants in my every tour. I have been eating Ayam Betutu and the Cerorot. They are the very special and famous dishes of this region. The tastes of both are yummy. When I told about the food specialty of this country to my friend so, he got excited to visit Indonesia. Next month he have a plan to visit it before his bus tours to cape cod.
